Planning a memorial can be difficult especially when you
are emotionally involved. ETERNAL ASCENT can help. It is our strong belief that our "way" is more of a celebratory
tribute that invokes joy, peace and satisfaction than that of the more somber, traditional one. Isn't that simply
what we all want for our departed ones and even for ourselves?
There are some issues, however, that you must carefully consider if you are to carry out the last wishes of your
loved one, or even those of yourself!
IT STARTS WITH "LAST WISHES"
The rule of thumb here is to never put these wishes exclusively in a will. If one
has a particular last wish written plan, let everyone know of it's existence and whereabouts if possible. Wills are
normally read days after a memorial and your loved one or you might already been
buried!

IS BURIAL RIGHT FOR YOU AND
YOUR'S?
Since the deregulation of some of the far reaching arms of the funeral industry,
such as caskets, embalming, etc. so many people are realizing that the traditional funeral and burial no longer
makes the best sense. What is now making sense to many is cremation as opposed to burial, because of environmental
issues, prohibitive costs on plots, and vandalism.
Issues to the environment: Man can invent
and produce many
things, but not land. More and more want to ensure this land for the "living".
Issues of vandalism: There have
been countless stories of
graves being dug up to make room for the "next" one, while complete cemeteries are removed to provide for new
construction. There are also those desecrations and grave robberies that we see on the news from time to time.
Prohibitive costs: The
cost of a cemetery plot is now being put in the "assets" column. Plots have been priced in the six figures, let
alone hundreds of dollars. Further, there is the pre-planning issue. "Buyer Beware". Read these very carefully if
you are considering this, because if you change your mind or even move, you might not get a refund. Recently, there
was a cemetery that was sold and the new buyer refused to honor those
packages!

THE BOTTOM LINE The closest you will ever come to a "guarantee" for yourself, as
there are none, is to open a P.O.D Account, (payment on death). This a tentative trust earmarked to honor
your last wishes and is completely revocable. A beneficiary is named by you, so that individual will
(hopefully) use these funds to carry out your wishes. These accounts are available in most banks and are
sometimes called: "Totten Trusts" , "Special Funds Accounts, or just plain "Trust Accounts". A bank employee
will thoroughly explain it's features.
